Customer Service 101: The Basics
The most important forefront of any business is its customer service as that is being the lifeblood that brings the customer in or keeps it out.
It can be delivered in many different ways and medium, may it be in email, chat, via phone, and the most crucial one is the face to face or personal interaction with the customer in person.
And, with the different medium used in delivering customer service, there are also different strategies by which it can be provided, and they are even more and more training or courses are given to employees to allow them to exercise such. However, it would be best that you go over about the basics of customer service so that you will have the foundation of its importance and know how it can be effective for your company and your relation to your customers.
It can be said that customer service can have plenty of means to be expressed but the most essential one among these is expressed through respect to the customers, as this can give the customer the feeling that their opinion, needs, requests, and presence is acknowledged, appreciated and valued no matter who they are and how small their need is.
Then understanding the customer in their needs, wants, complaints, and everything else will make them know that their concerns are being looked after. A customer will feel more comfortable and convenient if, for whatever situation it may be, they see that you are listening to what they have to say, what they comment on, or what they are venting out, and as you show you listen you can easily empathize and this leading you to appease the customer so you can shove him or her to the right path or discussion.
Customers can feel how they are being treated by looking at you or sensing the tone of your voice, therefore make sure that either in good or bad conversation always maintain politeness in the way you respond, maintaining proper posture and neutral expression, as this will tell them that you are a controlled person and you are not swayed, thus will they also show respect to you.
Overall, the complete package of customer service will fall on how you deliver, how you keep your commitments and promises, and how you go the extra mile to provide the service even if it is beyond the call of duty, that will make the customer satisfied at all cost. There are many ways available to learn customer service, in any way you can, and when that is mastered you can be assured that your customers will not be adamant to give you that 5 star rating in your services.
Bear in mind that good customer service will invite customers to patronize you, but bad customer service will drive them away from you.
